Partnership-We partner with local churches to serve them in facilitating a mission trip for their church body using the gifts and talents of their community to share the love of Christ and His salvation in the mission country. Other long term missionary affects
Thru BWO Short term mission trips there has been some lasting results in terms of short term people becoming long term missionaries to date, what we are aware of.
Jireh Ministries was formed by a missionary, Robyn - CA, from our first trip to Uganda who was so touched that she came home and with the help of others started a ministry that now helps feed, clothe, and educate over 300 children. She and her husband recently moved to Uganda and now oversee the operations Jireh Children’s Center. Robyn’s daughter recently adopted two children from Amani Baby Cottage due to Robyn’s visit on her first trip to Uganda with BWO.
Amani Baby Cottage adoption advocate, Holly - OK, after going on a BWO short term trip to Uganda moved back to Amani. She has helped over 60 children be placed in loving families in a two year period. Holly currently serves in Ireland as a full time missionary.
Nurse to orphans, Souixanne - CO, came on a BWO trip to Uganda. Shortly after returning she made the decision to leave her 16 grandchildren and move to Jinja to be their only full time nurse who cares for some 50+ babies ranging from premature infants up to age 6. She has served the Amani Baby Cottage faithfully for 3 years.
Costa Rica Church Plant, Marissa - CA, went to Costa Rica and served on the surf team. She became friends with one of the leaders of the Christian Surfers Association. One year later they married. Together they started a church plant reaching out to the poor and destitute of Jaco Beach.
Roughly 15 – 20 other short term missionaries from all over the U.S. have felt God’s call to returned to/or lengthen their stay anywhere from 2 weeks to 8 months in the countries where they first served. They felt the call and connected with the ministries BWO serves in-country and chose to follow God in this way.
After summer 2008 missions we are currently aware of 2 people who are working towards moving to South Africa to Participate in CPX with Floyd McClung. Elizabeth – CA, is making plans to partner and serve All Nations by opening/running a hostel ministry to travelers in South Africa. The other, Nicole – CO, plans to stay on and start a daycare ministry in the township of Red Hill under the covering of All Nations.
We are also aware of two females who have plans to join Calvary Chapel Jaco in Costa Rica by interning with them in summer 2009
In closing, this is just a snap shot of what has happened thru BWO’s short term trips. November 28, 2007 Jesus continues to shine as the light of the world through the hearts of everyday people. This summer we sent a team to Costa Rica with Believers World Outreach to work with Calvary Jaco Beach and the Nicaraguan refugees outside of San Jose. Our experience working with BWO was an absolute blessing. Not only did many make decisions for Jesus but our whole team was stretched, blessed and fired up for the joy of the gospel. They take care of all the logistics, before, during and after the teams are sent out. You're free to be a team without all the stress of coordinating an entire outreach. Pastor's can actually be participants. No matter your background or prior experience, BWO has a variety of opportunities for everyone to get involved. The best part is the fellowship and like-mindedness we experience with this organization, the people of Costa Rica and the collective vision to reach the lost. We look forward to sponsoring BWO mission trips again and again as we maintain those relationships made with new friends around the world. Sincerly, Dave Heitman Senior Pastor Calvary Chapel Point Loma November 17, 2006 Short term mission trips are awesome opportunities for personal spiritual growth. If they are organized effectively, they will leave a lasting impact on the community as well as on the individual missionary. After going on the Costa Rica mission trip with BWO for the past two summers, I can say that they are very effective in organizing these trips. Through their dedication to prayer for each participant, partnership with local Costa Rican churches, and a focus on spiritual matters, we have seen an awesome work of the Lord accomplished in Costa Rica and in our own church group. By joining those who are already reaching out and being used by the Lord, we have seen hurting and hopeless people of Costa Rica make decisions for Christ and get involved in their local churches. It is amazing to see what the Lord can do through a Christ-centered organization like BWO. In partnering with BWO, we have returned home from mission trips with missionaries whose lives have been changed by being used by the Lord in awesome and effective ways. In Christ, Pastor Mac Herrington Hosanna Christian Fellowship - Assistant Pastor CHRISTIAN SURFERS November 5 , 2005 On behalf of Christian Surfers Costa Rica we would like to thank you for your dedicated service to our ministry this past year. The property and the ministry has taken tremendous strides during the year of 2005 and we could not have come so far without the hard work you and your team brought during your visit with us. With your help we were able to complete major projects on the property, including: the downstairs hostel, the upstairs apartment, a paved driveway, septic tanks, bathrooms, and much more. We were also able to touch the community with various outreaches including: dramas, the first Annual Family Dinner, the Eternal Crown Surf Contest, beach clean-ups, medical outreaches, and much more. We are inviting you to return because of your past commitment to Christian Surfers Costa Rica and the community of Jaco. Thank you for your prayers, your love, and your much needed support of our ministry family! We look forward to seeing you again in 2006! Blessings from, The Christian Surfers Costa Rica, Jaco Team CHUCK MUSSELWHITE October 2, 2003 Dear Calvary Chapel Pastor, I had the privilege of working with Mark & Debbie Tietsort in the summer of 2002 on a trip to Costa Rica. We participated in the trip that supported the Raul Ries “Somebody Loves You” Crusade in San Jose, Costa Rica. The trip was a huge success with our youth. We saw incredible growth in each of the students that went with us. That in part because of the professionalism of the Tietsort’s. Debbie ran a great program and Mark offered support to all of the pastors on the trip. We were well taken care in our accommodations, food, and training. Because of that work we were able to minister effectively to the people of Costa Rica and saw many come to know Christ through out street outreaches. Debbie knows Costa Rica well and has the contacts necessary with churches and businesses to put on a successful trip. I would recommend to anyone looking to do a summer program to check into this trip for your church to go on. You can’t go wrong and can only benefit from it. If you have any questions please feel free to call me at (805) 922-1822. Sincerely, Chuck Musselwhite Youth Pastor Calvary Chapel Santa Maria SUE L. ROSS To Whom It May Concern: Debbie Tietsort entered my life four years ago. Meeting and ministering alongside Debbie Tietsort has been life changing. Her leadership skills are apparent in everything that she does, not only in the avenue of leadership direction, but most of all for the passion that she wears on her sleeve. Luke 10:27 is a reflection of her life. She has touched the hearts of many through her proficiency in communication and having that “sensitive ear” to be able to hear where God is leading. While under the expertise of Debbie, there was never a question left unanswered. Debbie has the humility to seek the answers to questions she isn’t sure about and then follows up with the solution in hand. This, along with her love for people is a necessary requisite in a facilitator. Debbie brings forth not only business sense and years of experience to everything that she is placed in charge of, but she also adds the human essence of compassion that is necessary to carry missions to fruition. I consider it an honor to have worked with Debbie and I look forward to the time that God places us together on the same path once again. If you need any further information concerning Debbie, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. In His Service, Sue L. Ross Youth Motivational Speaker/Evangelist INNER ViZION MINISTRIES BRUCE & KAREN KOCZMAN Dear Calvary Chapel Missions Ministry, Grace and peace to you in our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a privilege to write you and highly recommend Mark and Debbie Tietsort and the Believer’s World Outreach. In August, 2003, God guided and provided for a team from our church to join in with the Calvary Chapel Missions trip to Costa Rica (with Big World Ventures). God blessed that trip – during the preparation stages, the helpful training time, the fruitful time ministering in Costa Rica, and the follow-up afterward. God used Mark and Debbie to organize the trip in a truly Spirit-led way. Prior to the trip they phoned us, prayed with us, and sent us helpful materials. They were always available to answer our questions. On the other end, they faithfully set up great translators and scheduled ministry opportunities for our Calvary Chapel team in Costa Rica. While serving the Lord in Costa Rica, we found Mark and Debbie to be gracious, flexible, diligent, loving, and joyful. They are filled with the light and love of Jesus and are eager to equip teams and help them to share the Gospel in parks, schools, orphanages, nursing homes, villages, churches, and wherever the Lord leads. We gladly recommend Mark and Debbie and the Calvary Chapel Missions trip that they offer for you to prayerfully consider. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Our home number is (732) 758-1746, and our church number and contact information are found on the bottom of this page. God bless you. In Jesus’ love, Bruce & Karen Koczman LONNIE TRUJILLO October 1, 2003 To whom it may concern: I would like to recommend to you Debbie Tietsort as a fantastic coordinator for your mission trip to Costa Rica.
